Hello, I would like to do a quick introduction here to a new blog starting regarding travel. I like most parents in todays day and age have children and invest in them and travel sports. I quickly realized that travel sports and sporting in general for our youth is quite expensive and time consuming. As my kids progressed (and still are) we began to see opportunities for them to expand, network, and build a base for their sporting career. Along with that came a lot more travel. Driving 2-3 hours one way each Saturday and Sunday, playing “divide and conquer” with my wife taking one child in one direction and the other in another. Club costs, uniform costs, equipment costs, leisure cost, team events and much more. The expenses spent added up very quickly. After 1 full season of travel soccer with two kids we added up our spend and realized we spent almost 12k in this adventure with them. One of the biggest expenses was the travel and what was included with it. Hotel or lodging, mileage, gas, repairs and maintenance on our vehicles, food for all of us equaled 3/4 of the year totals expense. All of this while transitioning careers and keeping balance with our home life. I started to see pop up adds for becoming a travel agent and thought to myself what expenses could I personally save on by using a travel agent? Could I become one myself ? Like most I could get lost in the gossip at sporting events with other parents discussing the expense we all were paying to see our children compete a higher level then your local recreational league. So I took a chance I began researching becoming a travel agent and dove in. I quickly realized how much I loved this. beyond normal things like setting my own schedule, working from home I was able to start really looking into savings during travel personally and for others. I immediately started talking to other parents about where they go for their travel even those smaller 2,3 night stays at hotels and asking them where do you go to book? Some had discount programs through their employers, others used third party websites but rarely did I come a crossed someone who said they used a travel agent. Through conversation I started to realize maybe I can help. So I talked it over with my wife and decided lets do it! That bring us to today Day 1 of the blog and how we are going to be posting not only about travel deals but my own personal experiences during travel and do whatever it is I can to assist in letting people know they can travel for cheaper. That’s where I can come in and assist. Since 90% of my travel involves sports with my children I decided to start this segment into our business called Ballers on a Budget. First trip coming up is to NJ this weekend so please check back for updates as we embark on this journey! check out the website for links and contact information if you are looking to see if you can save money for sporting events, honeymoons, family vacations, cruises anything you desire for a trip to create memories are why I am doing what I am doing!
